What is mRESVIA?

mRESVIA® (RSV mRNA vaccine) is a vaccine to help protect against lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

mRESVIA can be given to people:

aged 60 years and older
aged 18–59 years who are at increased risk for RSV due to certain medical conditions

How is mRESVIA given?

mRESVIA is given as a single dose of 0.5 mL as an intramuscular injection.

Your doctor, pharmacist or nurse will inject the vaccine into a muscle. If mRESVIA is given at the same time as another vaccine, a different injection site will be used for each vaccine.

How does mRESVIA work?

mRESVIA works by helping the body to produce its own protection (antibodies) against RSV.
mRESVIA uses a molecule called “messenger ribonucleic acid” (mRNA) to deliver the set of instructions that cells in your body can use to make antibodies to help fight the virus that causes RSV.
mRNA contains the code or instructions to protect against the RSV virus. It does not contain the RSV virus and it cannot cause RSV infection.

As with any vaccine, mRESVIA may not fully protect all those who receive it.

What are the possible side effects of mRESVIA?

Like all vaccines, mRESVIA can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Side effects may occur after receiving mRESVIA and are typically mild and do not last long.
